"Location: Austin, TX Focus: Technical Design, Aesthetic Execution, and Multi-Category GrowthAbout the RoleTexas Standard is looking for a skilled Associate Product Designer to join our lean product team. This role is for a \"builder\"—someone who possesses a high level of technical apparel knowledge and can translate brand-led creative concepts into perfectly executed products.As we continue to grow our signature menswear collection and develop/expand our women's line, you will be the technical engine of the design process. You will ensure that every peice - meets our rigorous standards for fit, construction, and style.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Blueprinting: Create high-level technical sketches and detailed construction call-outs (stitching, pocket placement, interior finishes) that serve as the foundation for all production.Fit & Construction Ownership: Lead fit sessions for both Men’s and Women’s categories. You will be the primary voice on how to adjust patterns and improve garment drape to ensure a consistent fit across all categories.Concept Execution: Take brand-level creative direction and translate it into precise Illustrator flats, digital mock-ups, and presentation boards.Print & Pattern Engineering: Manage the technical repeats for custom plaids and ensure embroidery patterns are production-ready and scaled correctly across all sizes.Collaboration: Work closely with the Product Development team to ensure all designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and aligned with our sourcing capabilities.Line Maintenance: Maintain updated internal line sheets and digital design assets as styles evolve from prototype to final approval.Requirements3–5 Years of Experience: Proven track record in apparel design with professional experience in both Menswear and Womenswear.Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of garment construction, pattern adjustments, and how different fabrics (wovens, knits, performance) behave.Software Proficiency: Expert-level Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop).
